In "The Last Days of Ptolomey Gray" Walter deals brilliantly with the experience of being "old old." <br />A number of years ago, Seymour Shubin wrote a novel called "The Captain," where a retired policeman confined to a nursing home sees criminal behavior by the nursing home staff.<br />Now I'm reading "Five Days at Memorial" about how the sickest and most vulnerable patients were treated (or not treated) during Hurricane Katrina.
