Martha Graham, yes. Annamaria, you bet. That was the idea. Alas, looking mysterious and competent didn't make me any more competent. Bob, yes, that was the spirit, a big fistful of money. Gotta love it.Kate Gallisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06107289413804236810noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7794927480752850942.post-32717932084684367682011-12-19T01:08:56.350-05:002011-12-19T01:08:56.350-05:00Don't remember what, probably a beer with lunc...Don't remember what, probably a beer with lunch. My first check on my first serious summer job was from the Lionel Edie Co. on Fifth Ave. circa 1957. I remember it said $50.00 (a huge sum). My Italian barber in Greenpoint knew the headman in the mailroom. Lionel Edie did "investments" (an amorphous, dull-sounding thing to me). I ran to CitiBank
immediately, I remember, requested and received 50 $1 bills.
BobAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7794927480752850942.post-59601525567917452922011-12-17T07:37:27.038-05:002011-12-17T07:37:27.038-05:00The coat was a great investment. I was assigned to ride with this real old man over to Sweetbriar College. To be polite, I asked the old guy, " Are you interested in modern dance?"
You guessed it... the old guy was Louis Horst, the biggest name in modern dance's world!!
tjsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7794927480752850942.post-55662526182087175692011-12-16T12:25:25.536-05:002011-12-16T12:25:25.536-05:00Not so funny t the time, but yeah. Not so funny t the time, but yeah.Kate Gallisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06107289413804236810noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7794927480752850942.post-91959581395565701162011-12-16T09:21:11.060-05:002011-12-16T09:21:11.060-05:00Your note re Phil Graham's secty is one of the...Your note re Phil Graham's secty is one of the funniest things I've read in years!!!!!!!
tjsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
