I grew up never living within a thousand miles of any relative! Having a grandparent fix lunch and join me in radio listening was like on another planet! I did meet my maternal g'mother a few times, but never knew a grandfather! Radio came into my life, though, with happy memories of listening to the Sat. Met Opera on an old radio, on the edge of Chesapeake Bay, by myself, when I was about 12, and loved it. Still do love opera!!! In Bob's article here, it is kinda what America is all about... so many different backgrounds, so many commonalities! E pluribus unum??? tjs Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7794927480752850942.post-6167959442981088802013-08-19T09:25:08.357-04:002013-08-19T09:25:08.357-04:00Robert, as I have always said, we went to differen...Robert, as I have always said, we went to different schools together. On my lunch breaks from Our Lady of Lourdes in Paterson, my brother and Andy and I ran our four blocks home to be served lunch by our grandma. The menu was more likely to be eggplant parmigiana sandwiches and on her radio was"Rosemary, brought to you by wonderful Ivory Snow." We too followed The Lone Ranger ("Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear...") and The Shadow. And in the evenings, Wednesdays I think it was, "the Lux Radio Theater is on the air!". With plays by the likes of Rod Serling and Paddy Chayevsky! I was eleven before we got our first TV. No wonder, with our young heads filled with such vivid stories, we feel compelled to make up our own.Annamaria Alfierihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12311596277267789834noreply@blogger.com
