Tell her the King (Patricia King, that is) says hello. Also interesting were your descriptions of NYC as it was then. Although the city has changed, MWA remains a beacon and a source of encouragement for aspiring mystery authors.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7794927480752850942.post-32308452282699638262013-01-21T22:56:54.486-05:002013-01-21T22:56:54.486-05:00Ah Bill my friend. Heh, even being a suburban-born, living-writer-out-in-the-cold & stuck out in the sticks, I still knew no fear. Just found a place where I'd fit. I'm proud to call you and Marie, some of my closest friends. I owe that to MWA. See you at Todd's launch.

RobertDash Courageoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01649688137713295510noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7794927480752850942.post-80387578070026555002013-01-21T13:49:09.160-05:002013-01-21T13:49:09.160-05:00Great blog post!!! I too had butterflies in my stomach when I first came to the MWA meetings, but you made it easier and fun to approach the legends of the time!!! So interesting to hear your story!!!Margaret Mendelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13470443041604861957noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7794927480752850942.post-56474748947571304212013-01-20T09:08:18.617-05:002013-01-20T09:08:18.617-05:00Bill, this was a joy to read! Though I'd written a bunch of stuff like plays and poems I'd never tried the Sacred Mystery Books! But, though I never tended bar, I too jumped in and volunteered for every possible chore! I knew that was the way to make your way up! If I had a dollar for every little lowly level item of work for MWA, I'd be living today at the Carlyle! But the years of friendships and trusted friends have made it all more than worth it! Long live the MWA and all those like you who have have made it one of life's great experiences! We're all one big family! Thelma in ManhattanAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
