Mandela: Rest in Peace

Annamaria Alfieri

  1. Annamaria, you will also enjoy my piece on Dec. 15 and the poem I wrote in 1955 on that terrible destruction of Sophiatown... it made a deep impression on me as I knew a lot about Father Trevor Huddleston in the international Anglican community then. Thelma Straw

  2. Thelma, I am sure I will. I don't understand why the link to the YouTube does not show here. It did when I worked on the draft before clicking "publish." I hope you will watch it. The performance had the people in the grocery store in tears. Me, too. Especially considering the fact that all those people shopping together in a nice clean, well-stocked grocery store would not have been possible before the fight against apartheid was won.

  3. Thanks for posting this. I haven't had a chance to check out the link. I did hear an interview with Gillian Slovo who wished that there had been more music at the memorial service. "A World Apart" the movie that I assume is based on her memoir has some great music.
